Lost Soul Aside has had a long journey to release. The Chinese developed action RPG, which originally went viral owing to an early concept demo, has been a mainstay of Sony’s fledgling China Hero Project since its inception – and has picked up a native PS5 version along the way. A new trailer reveals that it’s now targeting an early 2024 release date, where it’ll be published globally by Sony.
While it’s been several years since this title first surfaced, you can clearly see developer UltiZero Games’ time hasn’t been wasted. The release now resembles a more complete package, as opposed to the tech demos we’ve seen previously. In this new trailer, there are boss battles, platforming sequences, and some flashy combat gauntlets. All in all, it’s looking promising.
Of course, early 2024 is still more than a year away, so you’re going to need to be patient before you can put this through its paces. Let’s hope it actually hits this target, however, as it was originally due out all the way back in 2020, after all!

I actually hadn’t seen anything of this… looks decent. A bit ‘modern’ Final Fantasy-ish, which I like,
pfff 24 release date and theres a ps4 version?
I fondly remember when I got to play a demo of this at PSX 2017. It showed a lot of promise then and I still think it does now.
2024 yikes that's a long wait but it's great to know that it's finally coming and not vaporware ^__^
It sure LOOKS cool, but will have to wait and see if it FEELS cool to play or if it's actually janky AF.
@colonelkilgore At first it was being made by a single person a Chinese guy named Bing Yang he was heavily inspired by the look of Final Fantasy XV so you're bang on the money there
Looks like a Titanite Demon at 1:17
Meh... looks like it might just be style over substance.
Very nice. Now snag the publishing rights for Black Myth Wukong as well.
No high hope regarding Chinese and Korean developers. Surely they look great but good games are more than that. Let's wait and see.
They will also publish Convallaria, which gives me hope that it will turn out atleast as good as Lost Soul Aside, because we barely heard much about Convallaria and the gameplay videos thye have shown were "meh" to say the least, though they could just be pre-alpha footage.
I hope the best for these two games. So far, I enjoyed some of the latest China Hero's latest outings like Anno and FIST, although In Nightmare didn't turn out as good as I expected at launch (the devs did try their best on fixing the game and even ported it to Steam but still...), so I'm still toning down my expectations lol
@stvevan Most of these projects take a lot of years to make because of how the industry works in China. The ps4 ver can be discarded.
After Genshin Impact, Sony investing in the chinese development world is and will be a good idea.
Not gonna keep hopes high for this one! Chinese games tend to be more looks than substance!
I feel as though I've seen a million games that look like this..they all come from the same part of the world too.
2024 may be a long wait but atleast we have some kind of release date (assuming no more delays happens), I hope this one is good.
Really excited to see what comes out of other global devs in the next few years. Yes for a while a lot of this was janky AF, more style than substance, but this is starting to change. Devs having more experience; an aim to succeeding globally where jank is less acceptable; and a lot of serious investment is leading this.
There have been several games from these territories that have already risen above average fare (e.g. Genshin and F.I.S.T) but a lot to potentially look forward to with Black Myth: Wukong, Lost Soul Aside, Honor of Kings: World, Wuchang, Code: This is Jin Yong, Crimson Desert and many more. Sure not all will hit, but hopefully a few more will.
Personally very happy to have an even wider variety of games influenced by different cultures. Would like to see more from Indonesian, Malayan and other studios which typically support in art only to see what they can bring to the table. Promising time to be a gamer.
This game is gonna be amazing.cant wait.word up son
Hopefully this will be the last delay! Still looking forward to Lost Soul Aside.
